Hi. Thanks for the URL for the latest clip from "thisisalbundy". I can't remember if he has promoted his videos here or not. For those who may not know, he has produced some vids under the title "Killer Smoking Candids" I believe. That's why I certainly don't mind the URL here, because he posted the clips on YouTube. However, after some thought I deleted your other post with the three other links. Those clips, from JSG videos, were not posted by either JSG or Mike at Smoke Signals, as far as I can tell. (JSG made the videos and Smoke Signals currently has the rights to the JSG catalog. If you like those clips, I recommend a membership in Smoke Signals so you can see a lot more women talking about their smoking histories in the JSG catalog. Good stuff!) Mike is very much against publicising YouTube in our community, as you may know if you read the General Forum at Smoke Signals, where he frequently deletes references to it and mildly chastises the people who posted. I can understand his reasons, but at the same time, many producers do put up clips on YouTube for marketing purposes. Such as "Al Bundy". However, the JSG clips were made with ladies who, while they may have signed up to be filmed for "documentary" purposes, did not know that one day their commentary and smoking might be available for anyone with an internet connection to see for free. Yes, I know that with the candid vids from Al Bundy, those ladies didn't sign up for anything, LOL, but the difference is Al Bundy apparently is okay with putting it on YouTube. That's one out of two. (Producer/model). With the JSG clips, we have zero out of two, plus the fact that someone (Mike) is still using that footage for his paid members to enjoy. I hope you will understand my reasoning. There is a lot of room for differences of opinion here, obviously. Mine is probably in the middle. Some think it's okay to post anything and everything on YouTube and to post about it on forums. Some, like Mike, are against the whole website as it pertains to our community because some people are abusing it to post stuff that producers have paid to make. I have kind of a personal experience with this kind of thing, too. I have uploaded some clips on the Smoking Fetish Forum site before. I thought it was the least I could do, to share with those who generously posted clips of their own. As long as it stayed in the community, I thought, why not? Then a few days after posting a few "warmup" clips of a female friend of mine, I happened to do a search on YouTube and .... there were my clips!!! I guess the guy who posted them there thought he was doing no harm, but I PM'ed him and kindly asked him to remove the clips, and he obliged. The sad thing is, I had planned to upload a lot more clips of my friend, and to post more clips of other women, as I had before on SFF. However, since the guy posted my SFF clips on YouTube and I discovered that, I haven't felt inclined to up anymore of my stuff on SFF. So, you see where I'm coming from here? YouTube can be a good thing for our community, but if it infringes on our sense of ownership or sense of "privacy", it can have a detrimental effect. I'm happy to see you not only read the board here, but also are an all around good guy and post stuff you want to share with us. I encourage you to continue to do so! After reading my rationale above, you should have a good idea of what kind of stuff I consider okay for posting, regarding YouTube. If you do happen to post a link to something that I feel doesn't quite meet those vaguely defined standards, I hope you will understand if I delete it. If that happens, I will try to explain my rationale for that particular deletion ... but if I don't, it's probably just because I didn't have time. Not trying to be heavyhanded or anything. I happen to be friends with Jim (the fellow behind JSG) and PH, who was also involved in making those clips, so that kind of factored into this particular deletion, too. We haven't mailed each other recently, but I just don't think they would be too cool about their footage being on YouTube. I could be wrong, but that is my hunch. |
