It depends however 20 pack years is usually considered minor healthwise. If you smoked that much and quit then within a few years your chanced of getting a smoker's disease are abotu the same a lifetime non-smoker. When you get to 30-40 pack years then quit you will never return to the health of a non-smoker. I figure I've smoked about 1.5ppd for the last 30 years so I've got about 45 pack years and I can feel it. |
