Beth's poor lungs - a siteing

I have noticed a woman where I work that is a very heavy smoker (I work on the ground floor of a three story building and see her coming in from the smoking area all the time). I must add I have seen her smoking and she takes very long, deep inhales and holds the smoke in her body for several long moments. Today I saw her come in from smoking and go to the elevator (as I found out she works on the third floor). I had to go up stairs and decided to ride up with her. After waiting several long minutes, someone came along and said the elevator was out of order. We both walked to the stairway and began to go upstairs. I followed Beth. About half way up the first flight, I noticed she was breathing a little heavy. She paused at the landing half way up to the second floor and obviously winded, said I could pass her. I told her I was not in a rush and would wait. She began the climb to the second floor. We had only gone up a few steps when her breathing was audibly labored, but she pressed on one slow step at a time. We reached the second floor landing and she was wheezing and began to cough.. a thick moist cough. Her face was bright red and she was in obvious discomfort. Between cough's I asked her if she was OK. She tried to smile and said, "Just a little out of Shape I guess". She added, "I guess these don't help" hold out her hand firmly clasping a pack of Basic Non-Filter Kings. I just smiled and nodded.
After a few minutes her face was not as flushed and she began to climb to the third floor. About 5 steps into the climb, she was again panting and coughing. This time she brought up some flem and pausing for a moment pulled out a Kleenex and spit into it. She tried to put it back in her pocket, but missed her pocket and it fell on the stairs. I leaned down to pick it up and it was stained with the most beautiful dark yellow flem that has little speck's of tobacco from her unfiltered Cigarettes. She apologized and said how gross it was. I said it was no problem and handed the Kleenex back to her. As I handed it to her my finger touched the flem for just a moment. As she placed it in her pocket, I unnoticeable smelled my finger. It had a rich smoke smell I cannot describe as anything but wonderful.
As we continued to continued to climb, stopping every 6 steps or so, she said she hoped they fixed the elevator soon, as she would be going back down stairs in about 15 minutes. I asked if was for a meeting and without a pause said, "No, for another cigarette"!

I think I will transfer to her group!
